A Weekend of Grit and Glory for the Lady Jaguars!

manginit

This past weekend was nothing short of incredible for the Lady Jaguar Wrestling Team! On Saturday, the girls volunteered their time at the Spartan Kids race during the Trifecta Spartan Race weekend in Granbury. The volunteer group, led by Assistant Coach Dudley, also included our amazing managers Maddie Reece and Lucy Metnitzer, along with wrestlers Aleena Siddiquee, Violet Fortier, Ellie Miskovska and joined by the racers listed below. From early morning to late afternoon, they worked the kids’ race, cheering on young athletes and keeping the energy high. Despite their long day, they still made time to come out and support me, my daughter, and Senior Gwendolyn Musser as we tackled the Spartan Beast—21K with 30 obstacles! It was an intense physical challenge, but when we rounded mile 10, the sight of the Lady Jags cheering us on gave us the final push we needed. We were so fortunate to have such a supportive crew!

On Sunday, the girls returned to Granbury, armed with their free race vouchers from volunteering, and took on the Spartan Sprint as a team. The race was a 5K packed with 20 obstacles, and I had the privilege of running it twice—once with my family in the morning and again with the team later in the day. We had three groups racing: the "Zoomie" group, led by Seniors Isabella Silva and our student trainer Michaela Mundt, blazed the trail; the middle group followed with Anna Oliver, Jennifer Cho, and Aisha Williams pushing through; and the "trail group" took the rear, led by myself and Senior Gwendolyn Musser (who, by the way, not only completed the Beast the day before but also ran the Super in the morning—a 10K with 25 obstacles—finishing with the 4th fastest time in her age group in the open division!). She joined our group along with Wema Laktari, Sophia Silva, Cecelia Bumgarner, Nunu Moore, Kamalini Sankar, and Juliette Musser. London Rolen and her mother ran the Sprint together, finishing ahead of our group and setting the pace!

The camaraderie was amazing, with the girls constantly encouraging each other and focusing on mindset, especially when the obstacles got tough. Watching them work together to ensure everyone completed each challenge was truly inspiring.

I couldn’t be more proud of this year's crew—their resilience, teamwork, and determination made this weekend unforgettable! Go Lady Jags!

Signing off with a smile,

Coach Momgini
